- A few people were confused about the difference between this list and the BuilderBrigade lists. The BuilderBrigade lists are comprehensive room-by-room, trade-by-trade checklists of things to consider for (and during) your build. If you haven't purchased them yet, I highly recommend them. I purchased many lists from Etsy in order to determine the best to recommend to people and the BuiderBrigade ones are the best for sure!.
www.builderbrigade.com/checklists - This list is just the order of operations on most builds. For your house, I would expand each category to make it very specific to your build. For example, if you have wallpaper in three rooms, I would add a line for each etc.

I wasn't planning to kick off my blog and YouTube channel until June, but since there is so much interest home building project management, I thought I would start early with some YouTube Livestreams - every monday at 5:00. The goal of the livestreams will be to take everything from your plans, conversations with your architect and builder, along with everything from the BuilderBrigade checklists and learn to translate them into both visual and written communication for your bids and contractors.
My passion for this came when I realized that our projects went much smoother when there was an interior designer on board and that many clients who were acting as their own designers didn't fully understand what designers provide to contractors. Now, I have a process for making sure those acting as their own designers can provide us with exactly what we need.
Also, most people who are building or remodeling, make selections far too late in the process. If you can kick off the build with everything already selected, everything goes much smoother and your bids will be much more precise...making it easier to stay on time and on budget.
